During the IPSERA conference, the EXPERTISE project team had the opportunity to present the research results of the project’s second work package. During the session on PSM skills, Vincent Delke presented the results of the literature review and the next steps of the Erasmus+ project.
The conference is the annual meeting of the International Purchasing and Supply Education and Research Association (IPSERA), a multidisciplinary network of academics and practitioners dedicated to developing knowledge about Purchasing and Supply Management (PSM). In 2024, the conference focused on “the role of PSM on producing alternatives to a world that calls for change”. The conference took place from March 24 to March 27, 2024 in Rio de Janeiro.
During the presentation, the relevance and need for research on this topic was highlighted and the European collaborative work was outlined to the participants. In the next step, the preliminary study of the previous work was shown to examine and identify prevalent keywords, their relationships and the thematic clusters they form within the academic discourse on the education and training of silver workers. The results of the following systematic literature review of 1422 academic publications show that there is a need to develop targeted, age-appropriate education and training programs for silver workers, emphasizing the need for flexible, technology-driven and personalized approaches. It also calls for a shift in corporate culture and attitudes towards older workers to recognize their valuable contribution and address the unique challenges they face in a rapidly evolving business landscape. This report sets the stage for current research in EXPERTISE as well as future research and practical measures to improve the skills and employability of older workers in the PSM and related sectors.
